YEL Fantasy Baseball League – Auction Info
YEL Auction will begin on Monday, February 15, 2016 at 7:00 AM EST
Note – if you will not have access to the Internet Monday morning you may nominate your player Sunday evening. But, that player will not be “sold” until 24 hours have passed from 7:00 AM Monday morning. Therefore, the earliest a player can be won will be Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at 7:00 AM.
• At this time owners may nominate one player to be auctioned.
• Players are nominated by going under the 2014 Auction Board and starting a NEW thread for one player. In the title ONLY place the player’s full name, position(s) and team. In the body of the message place your opening bid and your team name.
• If two owners nominate the same player – the owner nominating second should delete their post and nominate another player.
• Please check to see the player you are about to nominate is not on a team (major or minor roster) or has recently been sold and not updated. Using the search feature of the forum is a good way to check. Just change the search to go back 90+ days. Easier than this - you can check under the "Players Sold" forum and the thread for the players position.
• NOTE – Minor League players are allowed to be nominated for auction, but, they must be in the Yahoo database. (Just go to the Yahoo baseball site and check for them) They must not be on another team’s minor league roster. If a player is auctioned off they can not be on any farm team in the future. They must be kept or dropped to be reauctioned in future years.
• To bid on a player – go to that players thread and hit the “reply” icon. In the body of your reply place your bid (must be at least $1 higher than the previous bid) and your team name.
• If two owners bid the same amount, the first bid (according to the time stamp) is considered winning the player.
• After twenty-four hours have passed with out another bid that player is considered sold to the highest bidder.
• When a player is sold the following should/will happen:
• There should be 14 players on auction at MOST times until the end.
• Any time you have the highest bid on a player it is assumed that you will win the player.
• You must have enough room on your roster and your salary cap to allow for that bid. And you must leave enough room on your cap to allow you to fill your roster (ie you can't bid $2 on a player if you have 3 spots and $3 left).
• You may only bid on a player if you also have one currently nominated. If you wish to bid on an active player and do not have one nominated, you must nominate one first. Then you can bid on another player.
• The only instance when an owner does not have to nominate a player is when they have one spot left, and have previously bid on a player that has not been sold. Even if the owner is not currently the highest bidder he may continue to bid on that player until the player is SOLD. If that owner does not win "this" player he must nominate a new player.
• Near the end of the auction it may be tempting to hold off on a nomination to bid on a current player but you must nominate your player first. If the player you nominated fills your last spot you may not bid on another player unless someone out bids you on your player.
• If you have one spot to fill and you have been bidding on a player and get out bid, you can continue to bid on that player until they are sold. If you do not win that player you must nominate another.
• Please try to check the YEL forum at least twice a day. If you see that your nomination is scheduled to end at a certain time please try to be on the site soon after to nominate a new player.
• If you will be away from the Internet for a long period of time you can leave your next nomination with me and I will make it for you when it is time.
• The auction will continue through weekend, holidays, etc. until all roster spaces are filled.
Auction example:
25Alive starts a thread nominating Miguel Tejada, 3B BAL and places a $5 bid at Monday, 7:36 AM
@ 8:46 AM AC Express places a reply bidding $6
@ 8:49 AM 25Alive places another bid by replying $7
@ 9:57 AM Hoyas places a reply bidding $9
@ 2:47 PM NY Dynasty places a reply bidding $10
No other bids
@ 2:47 PM on Tuesday NY Dynasty wins Miguel Tejada for $10
NY Dynasty updates their roster page
25Alive can nominate a new player
The thread is locked and the Players Sold page is updated.

• When a player is sold the following should/will happen:
o I will lock that thread and mark the title SOLD, Winning Team and Amount Sold For
o I will update the players sold pages to indicate the player has been sold and the amount.
o The owner who WON the player should update their team page by added the player to the correct position, mark their salary, and add their price to the purchased section and change the remaining budget and players needed sections.
o The owner who NOMINATED the player that has just sold will now need to nominate a new player.
