Now that a few guys have been sold, I figured it would be fun to discuss some of what has gone down thus far.
I am in my first year in this league, and as with most auction keeper leagues, I expected there to be inflation. It is interesting to see what "sleepers" go for above market value and who can sneak through for a bargain.
So who has gotten a bargain so far? Who has overpaid? I always find it interesting to see the differing opinions on players.

I think I got a bargain on J Lester(14$ and definitely a bounce back candidate)and I overpaid for Asdrubal Cabrera(needed the SS---so had to pay for the position--the $21 I ended up paying is around 3-5$ more then I had hoped to land him for)

The biggest surprise of the draft so far for me was Ike Davis at $30. The guy is young, still has growth potential, and did hit 30HR last year, but at $30 you have to have him improve on his numbers for last season even to break even. It is interesting that he is thought so highly of, because I own Ike Davis in a few other leagues, and when I dangle him in trade talks, no one seems all that interest in him. I am glad to see I am not the only one who thinks Davis can provide top 10 1B numbers. As for a steal, I like Lester at $14, as I think he does have a good chance to bounce back. He is still young enough where I can chalk it up as a lost season rather than a sign of things to come. Everth Cabrera at $6 seems like a good value. He lead the NL in SB last season, and is eligible at both 2B, and SS. Given how much the other MI have been bid up thus far, it seems like he should be a good value at that price. My so called "sleepers" of Marco Estrada and Adam Eaton didn't seem to work out for me. Guess its time to dig a little deeper.

I have to agree my biggest suprise is Ike Davis ($30). I was hoping to get him, but once the bidding started, I knew he would get expensive. There is still a lot of talent out there, so I am sure there will be some really good deals later in the draft.

I wanted Davis and would have gone a little higher had someone outbid me for Tex who I'm not particularly crazy about but I needed a 1b badly.
Bill - If I had some money you'd never had gotten Lester for $14, I've always been a fan of his and that is definitely a good buy.
Konerko was also a good buy!

Davis is cheap at twice the price. I've been generally surprised at the price payed for most players. Higher than I expected in most cases.

The most outstanding characteristic of the auction this year to me was the significant number of guys purchased who would have been eligible for the minor league draft. This I guess reinforces the suggestion I made, which will be implemented next year, to hold the minor league draft BEFORE the auction.
I have 2 first round picks in the draft and several of the guys I hoped to draft are already now taken, which will make this a much weaker draft than I anticipated or how I assume it has been in past years.
