Our 14 teams currently roster 3 MI and 3CI each. This adds up to a minimum of 42 MI and 42 CI. Since the 30 ML teams have 60MI and 60CI, we are rostering at least 70% of the player pool at these positions. By comparison, we roster 3 OF, a total of 42 but the 30 ML teams have 90. Accordingly our OF pool penetration is less than 50% at that position. So what? Who cares?
Well, the relative scarcity of MI and CI puts them at an artificially high premium. I think this should be balanced by simply adding a 4th Outfielder. The deeper we penetrate the player pool, the more skill the game requires and it becomes a better game.

I second this notion and would like to see a 4th OF spot added.
It may be necessary to raise cap space to accommodate a new roster position. Perhaps raising our keeper cap to $110 and our total cap to $270.

I will say it was very evident during last years auction that there was a wealth of OF talent left deep into the draft.
And with that being said I have no problem adding a 4th Outfielder.
Also no problem raising keeper cap but I do not think the total cap should be raised. It is already inflated b/c of "Franchise Tag" exemption which I love to see go.

I would like to see a 4th OF added but not adding money to either keeper or total salary. The FT does not count towards either total and this makes you really buy smarter during the auction.

I like the idea of adding the fourth OF spot. It would help thin out the free agent market and make OF's more valuable.

I disagree. There was a lot of crap on the waiver wire last year and not much above avg. outfielders available. And, we already have an additional handful stashed away on our minor league rosters...doing this will dilute the waiver pool even further.

i would favor adding another OF if we cut our CI and MI to just INF which could be any and would keep the roster # the same.... and no to changing the cap or krrper cap
so change the CI and MI to INF and OF

Oozed........I agree that the waiver wire is thin at most positions but OF is the strongest position by far. During last years auction Chows was driving up the price on OFer's for his bench just b/c he could and b/c they were quality bats that though were not going to contribute to his team would be good trade bait. I remember this well b/c he drove me nuts bidding on his 6th and 7th outfielders.
Also Bongs idea about adding OF but changing CI and MI to INF would alleviate your concern.

I agree with Bong hits. Change to straight up INF and add an outfielder.

Reducing the MI/CI and adding an OF takes some of the challenge away...where's that VETO button???

I vote to add a 4th Outfielder period. No other position or money changes.

If we do add a 4th OF I think Bong has the right idea--go w/4 OFs and change the MI & CI to one INF spot--the roster size is already big enough........
