The one way instituted specifically to help the weaker teams is the draft, in inverse order of the prior year's finish. The draft has always been held, it appears, AFTER the auction, which allows any team to put a minor leaguer up for auction. I feel that it would be preferable to have the draft BEFORE the auction, which could allow weaker teams first shot at a minor leaguer who is ready to join the majors but is on no roster.
Anyone else agree with me that having the draft before the auction would be preferable?

This would, of course, only start in 2014, since it is probably too late to change this for 2013.

I would not be opposed to this option as a few top prospects are routinely in the auction.
